About this place

This track connects the Kauaeranga Valley near Thames to Crosbies Hut and the associated track network.

The route

Starting from Booms Flat Campsite in the Kauaeranga Valley, the Booms Tramping Track climbs steadily uphill. After about an hour you'll reach a stand of impressive kauri trees, making a great destination for a shorter return walk. To continue on, follow the track for another 6 km to the Karaka Track junction. From there, it's about a further 30 min to Crosbies Hut. Alternatively, you can follow the Karaka Track for around 4.5 hr down to Thames.
