Getting there
We have not checked a road end or car park for this place yet, so we do not give driving directions to it. Check how to get there before you go. Some routes cross private land and need the landowner's permission.
How to get there, on doc.govt.nzTo get to Pelorus Sound, turn off the main road just past Havelock, onto Queen Charlotte Drive. Queen Charlotte Drive is the main road in the Sounds, other roads are narrow, winding, and most are unsealed.
Water taxi services are available from Havelock to parts of Pelorus Sound.
The jetty at Jacobs Bay campsite and picnic area has been damaged by tree fall and is unusable. Do not attempt to use the jetty. Access to Jacobs Bay Campsite, picnic area, and track to Fairy Bay is now only possible via the beach.
