About this place

A steep climb for experienced trampers that leads to a ridge overlooking the Victoria Range.

The route

The Klondyke Spur route is a steep climb leading above the bushline onto the ridge, providing spectacular views of the Victoria Range. The climb to the bushline takes about 2.5 hr. It takes longer to walk along the ridge. Experienced trampers may continue along the ridge and drop into the upper basin with alpine tarns to follow the Rahu River right branch back out. This joins with the Klondyke Valley Track as a round trip. Do not attempt to take a low sidle as this will lead you to dangerous bluffs.
