About this place

This campsite is located beside the Waitawheta River, known for its trout and some great swimming holes downstream. There is a year-round liquor ban at the campsite.

Know before you go

Rat Bait

Diphacinone, commonly known as D-Block, is being used to control rodents around the Dickey Flat Campground. The rat bait is stored in lockable bait stations for the safety of people and pets. Don’t touch these bait stations. Watch children at all times. Poison bait and carcasses are deadly to dogs – keep your dog on a lead at all times.

Water safety

If you plan to enjoy the water, learn how to stay safe when swimming, boating and fishing .

Weather

During heavy rain or a severe weather event this campsite is prone to flooding and may be evacuated and/or closed for safety reasons. Check this page for alerts.

Wasps

Wasps are present in the area, especially in the warmer months. They can become aggressive if disturbed. Avoid nests, cover food and supervise children.

Vehicle access

Caravans, campervans and motorhomes less than 11 m long are able to set up in the carpark, near the walk in area to the campsite. Singular vehicles or combined towed caravan and vehicle over 11 m, cannot safely navigate the narrow, winding road to Dickey Flat Campsite. Due to tight corners and risks of getting stuck or going off-road. Additionally, the campground carpark cannot accommodate vehicles over 11 m. As it makes entry, turning, and maneuvering difficult, especially when full.

No hunting

No hunting is permitted around this campsite.
