How to get there, on doc.govt.nzFrom the park boundary, follow the track to the Mākāretu River forks (2 hours) and follow the south fork for one hour to reach the hut.

On the way here
Longview Hut to Mākāretu Hut Track · 4 hr 30 min
Towards the end of the track it drops down into beech forest. The final descent to Mākāretu Hut is steep. Cross the stream and you will arrive at Mākāretu Hut (575 m elevation).
