About this place
Amethyst Hot Springs are natural pools beside the Wanganui River, off State Highway 6 about 8 km north of Harihari. A short walk from the road end leads to a few small pools in the riverbed. Floods often fill them with gravel, so you may need to dig them out, and the rocks can be slippery.
