The heart of the deep south, the gateway to Stewart Island

About this space
Looking for a peaceful layover or stopover in the beautiful Deep South? My place is just 5 minutes from Bluff and makes the perfect base for travellers exploring the far south of New Zealand. Perched on a hill, my fully self-contained off-grid home offers a quiet, private retreat surrounded by stunning rural scenery. Whether you’re travelling in a campervan, caravan, tent, or simply need a comfortable break from the road, there’s plenty of space for you. My huge lawn and secure shed area can easily accommodate all types of travellers. I share the property with my three friendly Border Collies, who are always happy to greet guests (and occasionally help “herd” you towards the views!). As a former outdoor guide, I have a wealth of local knowledge about the Catlins, Fiordland, and Stewart Island. I’m more than happy to share tips on the best hidden spots, walks, wildlife encounters, and must-see places so you can make the most of your time here. Many travellers use my place as a relaxing layover to unwind after (or before) catching the ferry to Stewart Island, or simply to slow down and soak up the wild beauty of the Deep South. It’s the perfect spot to rest, recharge, and enjoy the peace. If you’re passing through and need a friendly, comfortable stop, feel free to get in touch — I’d love to host you.
