Geothermal water can carry amoebic meningitis. Keep your head above the water. Check access before you go: some springs are on private land.

About this place

The Perth River Hot Springs are small warm seeps in the upper Perth River valley near Scone Hut, in Westland Tai Poutini National Park. Getting there is a long backcountry tramp from the Whataroa valley, only for experienced, well equipped trampers, and you will need to dig and dam a pool yourself.
