Vegan Camp 2027, Hanmer Springs
Friday 26 March to Monday 29 March 2027, Easter long weekend., three nights.
Adults $250. Hāpai, students and children $125. Accommodation is extra, booked through us as a group. We email payment details after you register.
Our Vegan Camp (Kaimanga Mutunga Wiki Aotearoa) is back for 2027. Vegan Camp has been held every two years in the beautiful mountain village of Hanmer Springs since 2012, and this is our 9th. It is a chance for vegans from around Aotearoa to come together, relax, enjoy delicious plant-based kai, meet new people, catch up with friends and have a bit of fun.
Three nights over the Easter long weekend, Friday 26 March to Monday 29 March 2027, at the Hanmer Springs Forest Camp. Plenty of delicious vegan meals, with a mix of organised activities and free time, so you can join in as much or as little as you like.
Good eating
Our volunteer cooks create a fresh menu for each camp from the team we have and the seasonal ingredients available. Tell us about allergies or intolerances on the registration form; we can cater for some, such as gluten free. We do not cater for food preferences. Bring some vegan baking to share at supper.
Activities
Welcome and getting to know each other, a quiz night, an ice cream eating competition, an Easter egg hunt, games, walks and rafting. After breakfast each day we meet briefly to organise group activities. In free time you can head into Hanmer village to swim, walk, explore or shop; we run shuttles, or it is a pleasant 2.5km walk.
Families
Vegan Camp is welcoming to vegan families. The venue is ideal for children: an excellent playground, a big grassy field for games, and family cabins for up to 6 people.
Accommodation
Accommodation is extra to the camp ticket, from tents and campervans (unpowered sites) to cabins and two motel-type units. We book it as a group: choose your option on the registration form and please do not book with the Forest Camp directly. The venue is designed with people with disabilities in mind; tell us what you need.
Everyone helps
Be at meals on time, do a kitchen shift, wash your own dishes, and help with the clean up on departure day. Bring bedding (unless you pay for linen), a torch and sunscreen.
